ASA Elects New Gems and Jewelry Discipline Governor, Members-At-Large
Warren H. Morss is the new governor, while Monica L. Caldwell and Mark T. Cartwright are the members-at-large.

Herndon, Va.—The American Society of Appraisers (ASA) has elected Warren H. Morss as its gems and jewelry (GJ) discipline governor, and Monica L. Caldwell and Mark T. Cartwright as its GJ discipline members-at-large.
They will hold their positions for the 2024 to 2025 term, beginning July 1.
ASA said Morss and Caldwell’s extensive experience and involvement in the GJ discipline have contributed to the organization’s success over the years.
Morss has been an ASA member since 2014 as a chair of the GJ discipline committee and the GJ nominating and awards subcommittee. He also was a member of the board reduction task force and the strategic planning committee.
Previously, Morss served as ASA’s Boston Chapter president and vice president.
He currently is the managing principal of Boston Estate and Gem Appraisal with locations in Boston and West Palm Beach, Florida. He specializes in gem and jewelry consulting services.
Morss has been in the jewelry industry for 52 years, working in both the wholesale and retail sectors.
In luxury retail, he managed a fine jewelry salon for a major national luxury retailer and a store specializing in luxury watches.
During his time as a diamond importer, Morss traveled globally sourcing loose diamonds for resale to retailers.
Richard C. Huntington was the ASA’s previous GJ discipline governor.

Caldwell, a new GJ discipline member-at-large, has been with ASA since 1995.
She has been a member of the governmental relations committee and GJ discipline committee, as well as serving as the Tuscon Chapter president, vice president, and secretary.
Caldwell is a GIA graduate gemologist (GG) and an ASA master gemologist appraiser (MGA). She’s been in the jewelry industry for more than 35 years.
She owned a store offering custom design, repair, and appraisal services for over 20 years. The store transitioned to an appointment-only model in 2023.
With two seats open for ASA’s GJ discipline member-at-large, Cartwright will be resuming his role.
He has been a member of ASA since 2012.
Over the years, he has served as the GJ discipline committee chair, an examiner on the board of examiners committee, and as a member of the ASA’s international conference committee and the international education committee.
ASA said, “Mark has been a key contributor to ASA’s education program as GJ education committee chair and co-developing and co-instructing ASA’s gems and jewelry principle of value courses.”
Cartwright, who has more than 40 years’ experience in the industry, has earned appraisal designations from ASA, the American Gem Society, the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers (NAJA), and the International Society of Appraisers.
Cartwright is also a GIA GG, a Spectrum Award-winning jewelry designer, and a goldsmith.
